Gailey (AKA Football Nazi) Fires First Volley in Developing Black Comedy: a.k.a.

Buffalo Bills Gailey (AKA Football Nazi) Fires First Volley in Developing Black Comedy:  a.k.a. Days of Their Lives (No Soup for You!)

You simply cannot make this stuff up.  There never seems to be any end to the soap opera material revolving around One Bills Drive.  And once again the Bills seem to miss the mark, entirely.  The Bills' soap opera on the season has begun indeed.  On the last day of practice at the Fisher training camp facility a couple of post-adolescent teens (or so) had by most counts lobbed language at Trent Edwards that ranges in reports from vulgar to derogatory.  Perhaps it resembled the type of language one hears on game day at the Ralph and involving mentions of male genitalia and their relation to gay male activity, but who knows.  By most counts it was in fact at minimum derogatory and at most lewd and vulgar, which leaves a range of possibilities.  In steps Gailey!

Buffalo Bills Thank You Sir!  May I Have Another! - Hazing Time in Buffalo

As the famous hazing scene in the movie Animal House goes, so too Bills fans prepare for the annual ritual mired in passive aggressive contempt directed at them by the overlords of the Buffalo Bills.  The "call to arms" for fans to support their Bills team for which everything will be different this season than it has been since the soon to be legendary Bill Polian was fired following his having taken the Bills to three straight Super Bowls and five straight playoff appearances not to mention an 8-5 playoff record, will soon be sounded.

Buffalo Bills It's Not the What, it's the How!

This piece is being written as a counterpoint to some very recently read Bills fan perspectives, including but not limited to an opinion piece by Larry Felser in the Buffalo News essentially impugning "hysteria" over the Bills and to a lesser extent the Sabres first-round hockey playoffs loss.  While I will not speak to the Sabres, I will speak to the Bills end of that equation as a counterpoint to all those suggesting that patience is required and how "we've been there before in the '70s and early-mid '80s."  It is easy to see why fans are bailing on the Bills.

  Over-Analysis on Draft Shields Realities

NFL Draft Analysis Over-Analysis on Draft Shields Realities

Scouts, fans, and media love nothing more than to rank all players and prospects in a linear manner.  Everyone knows that there are also a wealth of intangibles.  And of course team fan forums go into justification mode in a quasi fight or flight fan mentality.  Regarding the Bills, many have already fled including moi.  Only the love of analysis and post-Wilson disposition of the team keeps me with an ear to the wall.  Nevertheless, what really matters?

Buffalo Bills Bills Approach Day 1/2 Like Kids with a Pocket Full of Nickels in a Candy Shop

There is no mistaking that the Donadope installed front office is still calling the shots at OBD.  The Bills biggest needs heading into this draft were QB, OT, and OLB.  We an throw in WR as perhaps the fourth greatest need.  After all, suppose the unthinkable happens, that the durable Lee Evans suffers an injury;  what, the starters are whom?  Hardy and Parrish?  Otherwise, after three rounds, they have addressed exactly none of those needs.

Bills Can Hardly Go Wrong in Draft

Buffalo Bills Bills Can Hardly Go Wrong in Draft

It will be next to impossible for anyone ranging from fans to pundits to criticize the Bills' 1st overall selection on Thursday evening, the new NFL Draft kickoff evening.  The only thing that the organization can do wrong is reach for a player that otherwise would not have "9th overall pick skills" and/or one that wasn't on anyone else's radar for the following 20 picks or so.

  Donovan McNabb, ... Fuggetaboutit!

Buffalo Bills Donovan McNabb, ... Fuggetaboutit!

In all of the discussion and analysis about the possibility of the team signing Donovan McNabb, if one ignores the present status of the Bills, one will necessarily come to invalid conclusions about any such trade.  On paper it sounds good, and frankly, since the Bills are an "on paper" team, it should concern fans truly concerned about seeing to it that the Bills become a better team rather than merely makng moves that put fannies in the seats.

Analyzing the Dolphins draft, Week 8 [Excellent General Draft Info]

NFL Draft Analysis Analyzing the Dolphins Draft Free agency rumbles onwards although only scraps remain. The Dolphins were entertaining G Richie Incognito yesterday and it will be interesting to discover whether they were involved in any trade talks for Kamerion Wimbley who was dealt by the Browns to Oakland for New England’s 3rd round pick. As for the draft itself, nothing much has changed from seven days ago on the Dolphins front; the pro day season is well under way – more information on that later on – while rumours persist that the Dolphins have a strong interest in restricted FA free safety Antoine Bethea of the Colts who would cost that 12th overall pick.

  Bills' Prospects Rival Franchise Worsts

Buffalo Bills Bills' Prospects Rival Franchise Worsts

After the Polian era, Marv Levy, quick to prove that he was the far lesser ingredient in the Bills' '90s era formula for success, methodically ran the team into the ground leaving it with a 6-10 record with a lackluster 33-31 record that included two losing seasons after Polian's direct influence had been rinsed out.  Then in came Wade Phillips who ironically holds the standard for post-Polian era performance of the Bills by a wide margin having brought the Bills to 10-6, 11-5, and 8-8 seasons.  Then Ralph Wilson single-handedly and for the duration of his tenure as Bills' owner, sent the Bills', his organization and business, into a downward spiral that will not recover on his watch.

Wilson's big idea was to bring in media man Tom Donahoe who promptly ushered in the Donadope era.  The fruits thereof were Gregg Williams who left the team at 6-10 after three seasons, with a Donadope era encore by Mike Mularkey who handed the keys to Levy and Jauron with the tank at 5-11 and emptier than when he got it from Williams.  Levy in his "future is now" vision of the then recent past then had the brain storm to not hire a completely unproven head coach, but one proven in failures, and turned generating abject failure into a science as Jauron simply reinforced his pattern of failure and losing while leaving the Bills with the tank half empty at 6-10 as well.

So where does that leave the Bills?  What do they have to build on?
